Project Description

This 13th century architectural masterpiece is again a standout because of conservation efforts and restoration. UNESCO gave the fortress world heritage status in 1997 for its “historical significance and universal value.”

Sprawled across 52 acres, the castle consists of a High Castle, Middle Castle and Low Castle.

It is estimated that anywhere from seven to 30 million bricks make up the castle though no official record is known. The castle is open to the public for touring.
